Cherry Burl Puukko
Cherry Burl Puukko
This compact puukko is hand forged from W2 tool steel. It features a clay hamon showing its differential hardening. The spine has vine firework above the soldered copper guard. A flat grind on the blade and a stropped convection edge create a durable, but efficient edge. The wood for the handle of the knife is from a tree in the makers back yard. It was cut and dried over a decade and stabilized for durability and beauty. The collar of the knife is a unique material called bog oak. It sat beneath the Nodaway river valley in southern Iowa for 5000 years, beginning to mineralize and creating a natural black tone in the wood.
A unique and beautiful tool with the simplicity and practicality of a puukko.
