Graduate with Curly Maple
Hand forged from 1084 tool steel, this a beautiful tool made to last. The five inch blade is flat ground with a convex edge for efficient cutting and durabiity. The nickel silver guard is silver soldered to the blade as well as through pinned for a lifetime of hard use. The handle is crafted from local curly maple from Indianola, Iowa, near my shop. The curly maple is treated with aquafortis and heated to bring out the natural grain of the wood and then hand rubbed with oil for a beautiful and traditional look and feel. The handle has black fiber liners and unique vine filework on the tang. Gimping sits on the spine just above the guard for a firm grip and consistent registration on the blade. The handle scales are secured two nickel silver Corby bolts and severn nickel silver pins in addition to a nickel silver lanyard tube (and 125,000 psi epoxy). Comes complete with a matching oiled leather sheath.
The Graduate is a model designed for a young outdoors person heading out into the wild world. An all around outdoor tool designed to last a lifetime on the trail. A lot of things change in this world, but you will always need a good knife. Whether for yourself, or as a gift for a son or daughter, this is a beautiful and unique heirloom tool that you can be proud to give or own and pass along.
